Today has been a great day. And it is only 2:45pm. My day started EARLY, going to Rangitoto College (college= high school in NZ) for Monday morning worship. Looking around the room at these teens wearing their blue and grey uniforms and examining all the posters on the wall, it struck me: how awesome it is that 10-20 teens would wake up EARLY and get there at 8 AM on a Monday morning to sing their hearts out to God. Especially in a country where 1 million out of 4.3 million claim to be "without religion." It was awesome. My prayer is that God would add strength to them as they are missionaries in their schools and also see if there will be opportunities for my involvement in the school life there.
For lunch time I went to West Harbour Primary School (elementary) where we do a lunch hour Bible in School program. We feed em great sandwhiches and heaps of fruit and do fun songs and tell stories, equipping them with some life skills (forgiveness, kindness) using the Bible as our basis! So they are getting love from adults who care about them, fed, and also lessons about GOD who LOVES them!! .Our prayer is that the kids would really be changed by what they are learning and that we could spread this into one MORE school this next term.
God is good! He is showing his faithful hand as we are taking steps and being fully engaged with our surrounding community with hopes of bringing people closer to God and deeper in their relationship with him!
