This is the fourth year of the
Spring Carnival [Photos]in our neighborhood of Greenhithe. Its a true Kiwi alternative to celebrating the change in season rather than the spooky side of Halloween (which is a holiday exported from the U.S.). We celebrated the new season (not harvest, but SPRING) with cotton candy, inflatable slide, face painting, animal farm, games and a BBQ. Fun was had by all. My department was the games for the little kids. We "staffed" the games with some of my excellent teens who were so enthusiastic and lovely with the kids... I feel like a proud mom, beaming at how awesome they ran the show ;) Below is a little email from a mom in the community, thanking us for putting the carnival on. We do love this community... and it shows. Praise the Lord!
QUOTE: "A huge thank you to Amanda, Michelle and the team, and all the volunteers who organised and ran this year's Spring Carnival. It was a great success and a fantastic event for families. My two boys had a wonderful time. I was particularly impressed by the time taken by each of the volunteers to make the event special. The care and time taken on face painting and hair was fantastic.
The kids who helped with the games were friendly and so
good with the youngers kids. Even the BBQers had a smile on their faces. I feel very lucky to live such a real and supportive community. It is things
like this that make Greenhithe a special place to live. Thank you all for giving up your time to do this. We look forward to it again next year.
