Observation #5: "Marm"

I was told last night that it is so weird that Americans spell "MOM" with an "O." Here its spelled/pronounced "MUM." I was then told the way I  pronounce "O" with my Buffalo/American sounds around here like there's an R in it, like "Mom" should be spelled "Marm." Haha.

But with the Kiwi accent wherever an R appears at the end of words, for example, sister or mister, it magically disappears, becoming sista or mista. But, don't be alarmed... those missing "R's" reappear on the ends of words without them. For example, Nana... sounds like Nan-er. Funny, all those years of Speech Class for pronouncing my R's seem like such a waste now ;-)
